Results last Saturday’s Keelboat Race.

Hello sailing friends,

Last Saturday we sailed the for last race at Lake Calhoun and we where happy to see that six boats lined up for the start. After Tom set up the Olympic course, not without problems, as the wind shifted up to 60 degrees sometimes and died to not more than 3 to 5 miles per hour even with patches with no wind at all.

Brian / Alberto made the best start with Rich and his two grand children. Henk / Wenona and Rodger in close pursuit. Rich took off well and sailed on a port tack away from the fleet. Nabile with Shannon as his crew and the Richard family closed the field.

All went well until the wind died. Henk/ Wenona sailed in a hole and floated around. Just before the first buoy Rodger past Brian but he was able to take the second place again just behind Rich rounding the first buoy.

During the rest of the race we all looked for puffs and prayed for some wind to keep moving. Rich ended first, with Brian 5 seconds behind him. Rodger ended third, and Nabil became fourth before Henk and Wenona.

Now a more serious note:
From now on the race will start on time, as the judge has to set up the course on time for us to be able to race.
1) Judge blows horn 30 minutes before the start.
2) Judge gives first signal 6 minutes before the start.
3) Judge gives second signal 3 minutes before the start.
4) Judge gives starting signal.

See you all on our last race of the season Saturday September 26.
Starting time 11am.

Don’t be late.
