The Lucky Day of Ice Sailor...... Mike Elson

Henk, you would have enjoyed the one day of ice boating that we hadso far, before the snow came. The ice had just barly frosen when Mike and a friend tried out their boats on Calhoun. I went to the lake to see how it was going, just in time to see Mike go through the ice.........He was in the water hanging onto the hull, which lukily kept him afloat. They got him a rope and three guys, including Werner, managed to pull him out.

They spend the next half hour to get the boat out.

In the midst of things the police arrived and told them to come to shore. Mike, ofcourse was not about to abandon the boat,whichwould have gottenfrosen in untill spring.

They finally were able to pull it to shore where the Police gave them a lacture but didn't issue any tickets.

The adventure's never cease on old Calhoun,
and we are happy the Mike is save and well

Hello, I’m Wyatt Richard,

About mid-October I got an answer to something I had been dreaming about for some time. I had an interview with a teacher at Ocean Classroom Foundation and found out I had been accepted into a four-month, high school curriculum-based adventure on a 130' sailing ship! I will be gone from February through May, 2011 and visit 8 countries as I help crew the ship from the Caribbean to Nova Scotia. It’s also a rigorous high school program based in applied studies. Sailing is my passion and this is a huge opportunity for me.

So, I'd like to invite you to a concert to raise money for my semester at sea, featuring acclaimed Twins Cities performers, including:
